inner bloom
sculpture for the Wielewaal and its people
A sculpture created for a solo exhibition at Growing Space Wielewaal, Rotterdam, NL (2022.08.19 – 2022.08.31). Visiting the Wielewaal and speaking to some of its residents, one topic resurfaced time and time again: the Wielewaal as a place in transition and the way people are affected by this change. The sculpture is a resonance to these conversations: a pink rope enters the structure from above, twists and twirls through its ridges before finally transitioning into a different form all together, a hand painted spiral on the flour.
Cardboard, raw cotton (dyed using indigo + shibori), organic textile hardener, handmade rope (cheese cloth dyed with cochenille) and egg tempra (Turkish brown umber)
