suspender, 2019
Installation created for the exhibition Ampersands at W139 in Amsterdam, NL (2019.11.22 – 2020.01.12). After interning for a year at W139, I decided to mark my past role at the art space through this installation, a suspension system from which all the other sculptures in the exhibition would hang. Each of the components of this installation was made by hand, from dyeing and knotting the ropes, to welding the wall hooks and up-cycled pulleys.
rope; hand knotted raw cotton dyed with curcuma
wall hooks; sheet metal and pipes
pulleys; bicycle wheels and metal
Sizes are variable
